Getting around Boca Raton

Brightline, Tri-Rail, buses, major roads, airports, parking and bike routes — practical information before you go.

Check current conditions before leaving: drive times and gas prices.

Brightline and Tri-Rail

Brightline serves downtown Boca Raton and connects with Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Aventura, West Palm Beach and Orlando. Check the operator's current schedule and fares.

Tri-Rail serves the Yamato Road station and is the regional commuter option for many weekday trips. The two systems use different stations and fare products.

Palm Tran buses

Palm Tran operates county bus routes through Boca Raton, including service along major corridors. Routes and frequency vary, so use the agency's trip planner before leaving.

The City also offers transportation programs with limited routes or eligibility; confirm current service directly with the City.

Driving

I-95 is the primary north-south freeway. Florida's Turnpike runs farther west, while Federal Highway and A1A connect eastern neighborhoods.

Glades Road, Palmetto Park Road and Yamato Road are key east-west routes. Peak periods and drawbridge openings can add time, so check navigation before a fixed appointment.

Airports

Palm Beach International Airport is north of Boca Raton, while Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is south. Both are practical choices depending on fare and destination.

Miami International is farther south. Rideshare, rental cars and rail-plus-transfer options are available, but verify connections around your flight time.

Parking

Downtown offers a mix of garages, lots and on-street spaces. Read posted time limits and event restrictions.

City beach parking rules differ by lot and may involve permits or daily payment. Lots can fill early during good beach weather and holidays.

Biking and walking

Mizner Park and nearby downtown blocks are the city's most convenient area for walking between destinations.

The El Rio Trail and routes near A1A support recreational cycling, but many roads remain car-oriented. Use marked facilities, wear a helmet and plan for heat and storms.

Schedules, fares and parking rules change. Confirm details with the relevant operator or government agency.
